Description
The Berger Hybrid OTM (Open Tip Match) Bullets were specifically designed for the 30 Caliber AR platform. They are competitively proven and have achieved wide acceptance not only because of their impressive terminal ballistics, but also because of their efficiency, one-shot terminal performance, and lack of sensitivity to seating depth. The key to delivering on these requirements is to heat the projectile sufficiently to achieve the terminal ballistics dictated by the design of the ogive and the jacket. The heat causes the soft lead core to melt and burn uniformly, which allows the projectile to achieve high velocities and a long effective range. Many shooters, however, will settle for an ogive that is more tangent than secant. The Berger Hybrid OTM (Open Tip Match) Bullets do not suffer from the negative effects of excessive velocity or barrel whip. These results in higher velocities and greater ultimate energy transfer as the projectile travels through the range and expands upon impact. The energy transfer is regulated by the projectile’s impact velocity, and the projectile’s energy dumps to the projectile’s nose cone. Energy is then delivered to the tip of the projectile, where it expands and creates a mushroom shape that minimizes wind drift and enhances terminal performance over a range of calibers and in all temperature conditions.
